Some stories ask to be read in quiet; others find their fullest voice when we hear them together. Books, songs and illustrations offer different ways into an experience that can become part of our shared life.
A story can give an idea a human face. A song can give voice to a longing. An illustration can help us see what words alone may leave unseen. Together, they invite us to imagine, reflect, converse and discover our place within God’s larger Story.
An imagined gathering · Read. Listen. Look. Reflect. Share.
BEAUTY · GOODNESS · TRUTH
Different doors. One shared experience.
01
Read or listen to the story
Read the book or listen to the audiobook as it becomes available. Books, companion chapters and narrated stories give space for characters, questions and relationships to reveal what matters—on the page or through a voice that carries the story with you.
02
Hear the song
Music carries the story into memory and imagination. A melody or lyric may remain with us long after the page has turned.
03
See the illustration
Visual art opens another window into the same story, inviting us to pause, notice and discover something we might otherwise miss.
What begins on a page or in a melody may continue as a question on the way home, a memory shared over supper, or a conversation we are finally ready to begin.
AT HOME · AROUND A TABLE · IN COMMUNITY
Make room for the conversation.
There is room to begin quietly, with a chapter and time to reflect, or to gather a few people around the same story. In a small group or Bible study, a song or illustration can open a part of the conversation that words alone have not yet reached.
On your own
Read at your own pace. Return to a song or illustration. Consider where the story meets your own life, your questions and your faith.
In a small group
Share a chapter, listen to a song and look at the accompanying artwork. Let the story open a conversation about what you have received and what you hope to pass on.
In a Bible study
Explore the story’s themes alongside Scripture, considering how beauty, goodness and truth illuminate the Christian Story and our response to it.
PUBLIC GATHERINGS
DAWN Windows.
A shared window into a theme, a project, a book or a story.
DAWN Windows will gather people around a theme, a project, a book or a story. Through music, theatre, conversation, shared meals and visual art, each event will open a window into something worth receiving and carrying forward.
Each gathering will have a particular focus and its own combination of experiences. A concert may open a conversation; a meal may give a story time to settle; an exhibit may help us see what we have not yet found words to say.
The gathering may end while its deepest work is still beginning—in the conversation on the drive home, the question carried into prayer, or the person we decide to call.

STORIES SHARED IN PERSON
A gathering. A window into the Story.
Each DAWN Windows event will find the form that best serves its theme.
A gathering may bring together a narrated musical, a play, a concert, conversation, a shared meal or an artistic exhibit. Some evenings may combine several of these; others may give one story or one work of art room to speak.
The invitation is to encounter beauty, goodness and truth together—with time to listen, look, reflect and enjoy one another’s company. What begins in the room may continue around a family table or in a conversation between generations.
Share your original artwork for possible use on this site, or explore creating hand-drawn illustrations for DAWN’s book chapters. Every collaboration begins with a conversation, with permission and clear credit.
